Flyer Distributors
When: April-May-June 2026, mostly business opening hours, whenever you are available
Time commitment: Flexible
Where: In your community. We aim to put flyers up in towns across Cumbria and West Lancs, as well as villages in the vicinity of Kendal.
Task description: Visiting local businesses/organisations and asking them to display Kendal Pride flyers. Putting flyers up on notice boards in surrounding villages.
Key skills: Happy to approach people about advertising Kendal Pride. Town delivery: Able to move yourself between businesses. Village delivery: own transport recommended.
Events Volunteer
When: Shifts available on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening and during day on Saturday
Time commitment: 2-4 hours
Where: Venues around Kendal
Task description: Representing Kendal Pride at our events. Welcoming guests, providing information about the venue and event, checking tickets, directing people without tickets to the booking website, giving out wristbands and programmes, liaising with the venue if there are any issues, checking in with performers.
Key skills: Happy to talk to strangers about Kendal Pride. Willing to learn how to use the ticketing app (training will be provided).
Village Builders
When: Shifts available Friday, Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon, Monday
Time commitment: 2-4 hours
Where: Abbot Hall grounds, limited number at RagTag Arts (Mealbank, Kendal)
Task description: Loading & unloading vans, setting up & packing down gazebos and marquees, setting up tables & chairs, hanging decorations, filling water containers, erecting & dismantling scenery.
Key skills: Reasonable level of fitness, including bending, lifting & safely carrying heavy objects.
Useful but not required: comfortable using ladders, knowledge of how to put up a gazebo, happy to use a drill, and can tie a bowline knot.
Kendal Pride Ambassador
When: Saturday & Sunday daytime
Time commitment: 2 hour shifts
Where: Abbot Hall grounds
Task description: Staffing the information stall, welcoming visitors to Kendal Pride, providing information about events and facilities, handing out programmes, encouraging donations.
Key skills: Happy to enthusiastically talk to strangers about Kendal Pride and provide information.
Bar Staff
When: Thursday night & Saturday & Sunday daytime
Time commitment: 2 hour shifts
Where: Abbot Hall grounds
Task description: Taking orders at the bar, pouring drinks, processing cash & card payments.
Key skills: Happy to talk to people. Able to pour drinks in appropriate measures. Comfortable handling cash and card purchases (calculator & card reader provided, as well as card reader training). Comfortable selling alcohol.
Village Helper
When: Saturday & Sunday daytime
Time commitment: 2 hour shifts
Where: Abbot Hall grounds
Task description: Fetching & carrying, litterpicking (equipment & gloves provided), helping stallholders & entertainers, running messages, keeping the stage and entertainers dry.
Key skills: Comfortable being on your feet for a couple of hours and moving around the Pride Village, happy to take instructions and switch between tasks.
Basecamp Supervisor
When: Saturday daytime
Time commitment: 1-2 hour shifts
Where: Abbot Hall Social Centre
Task description: Staffing the door of the social centre, making sure the area is only being used by Pride Volunteers & entertainers, keeping an eye on belongings left in the hall, directing people to hall facilities, tidying up, looking after the buffet.
Key skills: Happy to be away from the main event for your shift, some talking to people.
Procession Marshal
When: Saturday daytime
Time commitment: 2 hours
Where: Kendal town, along the parade route
Task description: Standing along the route of the Pride Procession, directing participants, reporting any issues to the Kendal Pride organising team.
Key skills: Comfortable standing for extended periods, looking enthusiastic, happy talking to people, situational awareness, comfortable being a visible part of Pride in the wider Kendal community.
