ARTIST OPPORTUNITIES
Drag Lab Soapbox Stage
Are you a new and emerging performer in the North West? Would you like an opportunity to perform at the SOAPBOX STAGE at Kendal Pride Village 2026?
The new Soapbox stage will be an experimental family-friendly platform for emerging queer artists, nurturing new voices.
We’re looking for performers of spoken word, drag, music, and other art forms who are ready to take risks and experiment!
Drag performers and producers Ash Bestos and Vaz are facilitating two workshops leading up to the event; offering mentoring, guidance and practical knowledge of devising, curating and hosting.
This is not a paid opportunity, instead it’s free workshops and a space to help hone your skills, build your confidence and get you up on that stage!
Deadline for applications is Friday 17th April at 12 noon and we’ll let you know if you’ve been successful on Monday 20th.
Visual artist commissions
Kendal Pride, in partnership with Abbot Hall, are looking to commission two artists to exhibit as part of our 2026 programming. This project aims to platform LGBTQIA+ voices, celebrate queer art and creativity, and offer diverse cultural experiences within Kendal and the wider South Lakeland area.
The commissioned work will be publicly presented at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, aligning with both Kendal Pride’s values and Abbot Hall’s commitment to inclusive, engaging and high-quality arts programming.
There are two £1,000 commissions available.
The deadline for applications is Friday 20 March.
Submissions are now closed.
